{rain dance}

July 6, 2012

Manna from motherfreaking heaven captured on my mom’s iphone – can you see those streaks of wetness falling from the sky?

{I’m whispering this post because everything is very precarious right now and I’m a little superstitious, but it seems like perhaps the monsoons are digging in. After weeks of sun-bleached forecasts, the meteorologists are beginning to make wild predictions like, “a thunderstorm around.” If you get up on a mesa, like I did on last Monday’s milk run, where you can see 360 views of the mountain ranges, you can see how indeed, there are thunderstorms around. The clouds are whipping themselves into a thick batter almost daily. On Wednesday there was a brief and fierce cloudburst over town. It drove into the garden, sent cascades of water flushing down the street and our whole family dancing loonily outside, jacketless, chilled, until the last drop fell. May there be more to come.}

    You and Rose look so much alike! And YIPPEEEEEEE for rain!

    I’ll second the Yippeee for rain. I grew up about 10 miles from the Waldo Canyon fire, and, although I don’t live there anymore, I have been watching friends suffer through it. So glad the area is finally seeing rain.

    Please send some our way! It has been nearly 4 weeks since we’ve had rain and it is looking very dry out there!

    The rain has been such a blessing all over our beautiful state, and it feels great to know that perhaps we are past the worst of the season.
