Note to self: When singing Dancing Queen, it goes: feel the beat from the tambourine, not trampoline. This is clearly why the disco motherhood movement never took off.
Also, Col would like to share his latest “espeerment” with you.
This is “cut-telling medicine,” which I can hardly believe I’m sharing on the world wide web as we haven’t filed for a patent yet. But, this is important enough that it really should be free for the people, always, like Abba videos on YouTube.
Col says, “first, you find 2 small green bottles.” (Editor’s note: These were found on a recent bike ride; it pays to always be on alert). “Next, fill them with water and orange peels and a few mints. Then they get all acidic.”
Rose: “well, I gave you the mints, so it’s my espeerment too.”
*Pause for thinking*
Rose: “Actually, you stole them from me.”
Col: “Anyway. Then, if your friend comes over, tell him to stick his finger in the jar.” (Editor’s note: this was Col’s longtime friend, Mathew, read more about these two here). “Then, if your friend’s finger stings,” wait for it, people, “he has a cut.”
Hence, cut-telling medicine.
Also, Dan is due home tomorrow and I realized I’m just the teeniest bit ambivalent about his return. It’s not that I’m not excited to see him, but more that I’m enjoying the gifts of this time alone with the kids. We hit our stride about 1/2 way through the week (after the ice cream and spontaneous parking lot dancing, and incidentally, after my phone consult with the amazing Natalie), a stride which has included reading two chapters each night of Prince Caspian, getting dressed directly from our clothes drying rack, and not being too much of a stickler about sobriety.
Also, #2, I don’t think Dan’s had any luck yet, and for newish readers, the man hunts with a homemade bow. Homemade, as in, he cuts down the tree, dries the wood for months, and performs a series of voodoo operations with hand tools to produce this:
Also #4, A Kimchi recipe to take all the fear out of fermenting coming henceforth along with another chance to gain discounted entrance to Rebecca’s fabulous e-course.
Have a lovely, long weekend friends.
